My name is Mimi West, and I’m the Founder of My Dream Teacher.  I’ve been a passionate performer as far back as I can remember.  My parents took funny home videos of me dancing and singing nursery rhymes with a British accent.  Since then I’ve pursued everything performance-related: acting, dance, singing in various styles, piano, violin, sports, public speaking—and of course, teaching.

As a music teacher I believe in paying it forward to the rising generation of musicians.  I know that music teachers have tremendous power to inspire their students to live their dreams.  As such, I make a point to learn each student’s desires, and I plan every lesson around their personal goals.

I formed My Dream Teacher with the intention of changing the world.  This nonprofit will provide invaluable resources to music teachers, music students, and parents.  We are constantly developing new programs to enrich the lives of musicians, communities, and the world at large.

My bio is never complete without mentioning the profound joy and satisfaction I have found in my family life.  I was fortunate to marry my best friend in the whole world, Michael West.  This wonderful man has been my hero through blissful times and through trying times.  We have two delightful twin boys, Seth and Simeon, and hope to have many more!

As a family we are deeply religious, though I have many friends who are not.  I love conversing with all different kinds of people who continuously teach me how to be a compassionate human being.  Those who share common ground with me, as well as those whose viewpoints are drastically different from mine, always enrich my outlook on the world.
